If you are renting your TTY telephone, you only pay $2.75 per month for the period you rent the telephone.. If you change your telephone service provider you must contact Optus to arrange for return of the telephone. There is no minimum lease term and you can cancel at anytime without incurring any end of lease or equipment return fees.

Please note: you need a standard analogue home phone line with either pulse or tone dialling in order to use the UNIPHONE 1150. For NBN users, the Uniphone works with a Voice & Data service, plugged into the modem’s phone socket port.

A combination TTY - Standard telephone and READ & SPEAK phone.

The Uniphone is an all-in-one concept, combining a telephone, TTY, and amplified phone - all in one! Now people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or hearing can all share one phone.

Once this unit is in TTY MODE, you will be able to READ your caller’s typed conversation and respond as normal by TALKING into the handset (you will not be able to hear the conversation). The Uniphone includes a bright display and a comfortable keyboard with an amplified handset.

All conversations to another non-TTY phone user needs to go via the National Relay Service (133 677).

You can call another TTY user without needing to call the NRS. The relay officer relays exactly what is said or typed by parties to the call. They stay on the line throughout each call to make sure they go smoothly, but don't interfere with what is being said.

Rental Terms & Conditions

The following policy applies to TTY phone rented from Optus. There is no minimum lease term. Cancel anytime - no fees apply. If you cancel or change your telephone service provider, you must contact Optus to arrange for return of the TTY phone.

If your TTY phone does not work on arrival or stops working, and you have not caused the fault or damaged the TTY phone, please contact Optus and we will send you a courier bag to return the Faulty TTY phone, including its packaging and all original accessories. Optus will arrange for an assessment of the fault or damage.

Please note that if the fault or damage to the TTY phone has been caused by you or by unreasonable or unintended use, then you will be charged for the cost of the phone repair or replacement.

If the TTY phone is found to be faulty, we will send out a replacement TTY phone that is the same as the original TTY phone or an equivalent model if the original TTY phone is not available.
