Powering the potential of Australians in need

Many Australians are being left behind, simply because they don’t have regular access to the internet. But with partners like The Smith Family, Good 360 and KARI Foundation our Donate Your Data program is working to change this and help power Australia's potential.

We’re providing free Optus SIM cards loaded with talk, text, and data that’s topped up with donations of extra data from our Mobile customers.

Partnering with ABCN to help students achieve

Optus is a founding member of the Australian Business and Community Network (ABCN) and we’ve partnered with them since 2005.

We work closely with ABCN to support high-needs schools by providing skills and work experience to help students thrive at school, grow their confidence and set career goals. Students may be from migrant backgrounds or from disadvantaged areas.

Since our launch of ABCN programs in 2008, over 5,800 volunteer positions have been filled by Optus mentors contributing over 49,000 hours in company time. This contribution has developed the skills and aspirations of more than 15,400 students across 39 different mentor programs being delivered by ABCN.

      Pathways to Employment

Pathways to Employment provides disadvantaged and vulnerable high school students with retail and employability skills, and the confidence to find and keep a job, both within Optus and the broader retail sector.

Since December 2016, 500 students have participated in the program and 62 students have joined Optus in its retail stores as casual employees, with several continuing their employment permanently.
