These pay as you go International 'yes' Call Rates, and international SMS and MMS rates are for our postpaid customers who receive a monthly mobile phone bill and if you have any international talk/text plan inclusions will apply once those are used up.

How can I find out if I have international calls included in my plan?
If you have international calls included in your plan these details of how many minutes and what destinations are included can be found in your Critical Information Summary, simply log into My Account to view of copy of it.
My plan doesn’t have any international inclusions, what are my options?
You may be able to purchase a $10/mth International Talk & Text Add-on (depending upon your plan) or you can pay standard International Pay As You Go Rates. To see if you are eligible for an International Talk & Text Add On call us in 1300 300 937.
What international Talk & Text Packs are there?
If your plan doesn’t include any international inclusions and you signed up to an eligible Optus Choice plan after 25 November 2019 or My Plan Plus plan (including SIM Only) after 21 May 2018 you may be eligible to add a $10/mth Unlimited Standard International Talk & Text Add-on (to 35 Selected Destinations). Selected Destinations: Brazil, Brunei, Cambodia, Canada, Mainland China, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Laos, Lebanon, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, USA, United Kingdom and Vietnam.
There are also 11 International Talk & Text Add-ons to pre-selected destinations (Austria, Bangladesh, Chile, Croatia, Fiji, Netherlands, Pakistan, Philippines, South Africa, Sri Lanka and Turkey) that you can purchase for $10/mth. These packs can be added to My Plan Plus (including SIM Only/Flex) plans purchased after 21 May 2018, or the $59 Promo Plus/Flex plan after 9th July 2018, and include up to 300 mins of standard international calls and unlimited standard SMS and MMS.

Have you experienced any issues calling overseas, for example, mainland China? If your caller ID is set to private you may be able to solve this issue by changing your settings to show your caller ID. Check your device instruction guide for details on how to change your caller ID settings.

International 'yes' Call Rates (Pay As You Go)
These rates apply for Postpaid mobile customers for calls originating in Australia. All calls have a flagfall of 35c per call (excluding $10 Optus Cap BYO which is 40c per call) and are charged in the same increments of your plan for standard national calls: per second, per 30 second or per minute. Airtime surcharges apply to calls from MobileSat, Inmarsat, Iridium and Thuraya. Prices are subject to change without notice.

International SMS
International SMS is only available with overseas networks which have an international SMS agreement with Optus. Optus relies on agreements with overseas networks and therefore cannot guarantee the success of message delivery. Message charges are incurred on sending the message, regardless of successful delivery.

International MMS is available with participating networks only. Some recipients of International MMS may not be able to reply. Optus relies on agreements with overseas networks and therefore cannot guarantee the success of message delivery. Message charges are incurred on sending the message, regardless of successful delivery.
