Major Connectivity Boost for Port Macquarie as Optus Brings 5G to the City

• Port Macquarie now connected to the Optus 5G network
• Part of more than 100 network upgrades completed across regional NSW in the past year

Port Macquarie residents, businesses and visitors can now enjoy faster mobile speeds and improved connectivity, with Optus switching on 5G services across the city.

Port Macquarie is among over 100 sites upgraded by Optus in regional NSW in the past 12 months, with a further 100* planned by the end of 2027.

The Optus 5G network already includes over 6,000 sites and reaches 94.5% of the Australian population. Thanks to Optus’ accelerated rollout of 5G across regional Australia, this number continues to climb, with the number of 5G tower upgrades in regional areas increasing by 82% in just 16 months. Nationally, Optus is on track to upgrade 2,444 regional sites by the end of 2030.

As a growing regional centre attracting families, businesses and visitors, Port Macquarie continues to see increasing demand for reliable mobile connectivity. The upgrade will help deliver faster speeds, making it easier for people to stay connected whether they're running a business, working remotely, learning and studying online, travelling or keeping in touch with family and friends.
