A Solid weekend for Chaz Mostert at the Supercars Perth Super 440

The Perth Super 440 has come and gone, with Chaz Mostert taking home fourth, fifth and sixth place finishes across the two-day racing weekend at Wanneroo Raceway.

Two 120km races took place on the Saturday, with Chaz qualifying P11 in the first race's qualifying session and P5 in the second.

The first race of the day saw Chaz get caught up in traffic, but as the grid settled he was able to climb the No. 1 Mobil 1 Optus Racing Toyota GR Supra up to eighth place within the first 10 laps. A lightning-fast pitstop on Lap 24 saw Chaz leave the lane quickly, before a slow pitstop for Waters allowed Chaz to climb up to P3. Chaz's tyre disadvantage, having only swapped two tyres during his stop, left him vulnerable late in the race after a safety car, and eventually dropped him down to P5, where he'd finish.

The next race saw Chaz maintain fifth position off a clean start, with the driver coming in early to swap out all four tyres. Tyre care was a focus of the final stint and key to the team's strategy. Not long after the pit stop, Chaz had gained P4, and maintained his position right up until the end of the race.

“A solid points day today with a P4 and P5, we were just shy of a podium but that makes us even hungrier for tomorrow," Chaz said.

The third race on Sunday was a brutal 200km stint. Starting off with qualifying, Chaz just missed out on the Top 10 shootout by 0.01 seconds, qualifying P12.

Chaz had an epic start to the race, and gained three positions going into the first corner, and later climbing to P6 before a pitstop on lap 23. He rejoined in P6, kept it together for a long stint, and after a second pitstop, dropped down to P7 – though he'd shortly regain P6 after Kostecki was require to make another stop. Chaz ended the race in P6, capping off a great weekend of racing.

“We are there or there abouts, unfortunately we didn’t get any trophies this weekend, we just didn’t quite have the pace to compete with the front five or so guys," Chaz added.

“Overall, a good bank of points, and we are off to [Queensland Raceway] next round which has been a happy hunting ground for me in the past.”

Next up: Ipswich
