Can't send or receive email: OptusNet troubleshooting

You can access your OptusNet email via Webmail, or other applications like Microsoft 365 or Apple Mail.

Note. If you've received an error advising you've reached your OptusNet daily send limit, or the recipient notifies you they haven't received your OptusNet email, refer to OptusNet daily send limit exceeded.

If you're still having trouble sending or receiving email, check the following:

  1. Is the internet connection working on your device to send/receive email? If not, check for known outages and refer to the relevant troubleshooting guide

  2. Restart your device/modem. (For modems - power up after 60 seconds, then allow 2 minutes for the modem to settle into a stable pattern)

  3. Log in to Webmail and check that you haven’t exceeded your mailbox limit. If so, delete unwanted emails to make space

  4. If you're using an application, check that you're using the correct account settings
    • Ensuring that your email client / app is set up with Authenticated Email settings allows other email domains to recognise that your email has come from a trusted source, thus allowing your email to reach the intended recipient
    • To find out how to add authenticated email settings to your email client, click here

  5. Send a test email to your own OptusNet email address and wait a few minutes to see if it arrives in your Webmail inbox
    • If the Webmail test was successful, this means that the mail server is working. Please refer to the support page of your third-party mail client to check if your settings are correct.
    • If the Webmail test was unsuccessful, contact us
