Device compatibility for Optus

To access our Optus 4G and 5G networks you'll need a compatible device and SIM card.

The Optus 4G network uses LTE 700 / 900/ 1800 / 2100 / 2300 / 2600 MHz frequencies. The Optus 5G network uses bands N78 and requires a 4G LTE connection. You'll need a 5G compatible device to access both 4G and 5G networks.

Optus (and other Australian telecommunication providers) is legally required to block access to devices that are not able to make emergency calls to Triple Zero (000) using VoLTE. Check if your phone is compatible using our Device Checker tool, by entering the first 8 digits of your device's IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number. Find your device's IMEI number by dialling *#06#. If your device is not compatible, you will need a new compatible device to stay connected. You can find more information here.

Speed and coverage will vary depending on the device, location and other factors. The Optus 5G network is available in selected areas (excl NT) and on selected plans. Check coverage based on your device and address. The 'Map Key' will provide network details.

Read more about the Optus 5G network at optus.com.au/for-you/5g.

Note: Mobile Phone SIMs are not interchangeable with Tablets / Mobile Broadband devices.
