Relocating your 5G Home Internet service

If you're moving to an address where our 5G Home Internet service is available, you may be able to take your service with you.

In this article we'll cover what you need to know before relocating your 5G Home Internet service.

You can find out if 5G Home Internet is available at your address by completing an address check. We may have to run a further check, so contact us to confirm service eligibility .

My address is eligible

If we've confirmed that your service address is eligible for 5G Home Internet, we'll need to update your service / billing address. Once this is done, all you need to do is set up your modem at your new address.

If you choose to not continue your 5G service, despite being 5G serviceable, a cancellation fee or Remaining Device Payment Fee may apply and you will keep the modem.

My address is not eligible

If you're moving to an area where 5G Home Internet is not currently available, we'll try to provide an available alternative Internet service and cancel your existing 5G Home Internet service.

If you chose not to go ahead with any Home Internet service with Optus, you must return the 5G modem within 30 days in good working order. If the modem is not returned in good working order within 30 days, you will be required to, depending on which plan you're on, pay:

  • a Remaining Device Payment Fee, calculated by the number of months remaining on the term of your device payment plan; or
  • a non-return / damage fee for the 5G modem

If you're not sure which 5G Home Internet plan you're on, we can help you find out.

Looking to switch from an Optus nbn®, 4G Home Internet or Mobile Broadband service to Optus 5G Home Internet? If 5G is available at your address, you can connect to a 5G Home Internet service.

Once you're connected, we'll need to cancel your existing nbn, Mobile Broadband, or 4G Home Internet service. To confirm whether you're eligible to make the switch, contact us.

Note. Cancellation fees may still apply, but we will let you know before organising the changeover.
