International calling & messaging: Dialling & country codes

Your Home / Office phone must be free of any international restrictions to connect successfully with overseas numbers.

  1. Dial 0011
  2. Dial the country code
  3. Dial the area code then phone number (remove the first 0 if the area code starts with 0)

Examples
  • To call the UK landline number: 065 8XX XXXX you'd dial: 0011 44 65 8XX XXXX from Australia
  • To call the US mobile number: 0884 8XX XXXX you'd dial: 0011 1 884 8XX XXXX from Australia

Having trouble?

In some overseas destinations, a successful connection requires that your phone number is shown to the receiver. If your phone number is preset not to show, dial 1832 before 0011 in the steps above. For more info on showing or hiding your number, see this article.

International restrictions may be active on your service. To request removal please contact us.

Your service must not have international restrictions active to connect successfully from Australia. If calling from an ovesreas destination you must have international roaming active. To remove international restrictions, please contact us.

  1. Press + (on most mobile phones the + symbol is located on the * or 0 button)
  2. Enter the country code
  3. Enter the area code then phone number (remove the first 0 if the area code starts with 0)

Examples
  • To call the Australian landline number: 03 9XXX XXXX you'd dial: + 61 3 9XXX XXXX from an overseas destination
  • To call/SMS the mobile number: 0421 0XX XXX you'd dial: + 61 421 0XX XXX from an overseas destination

To call an Australian number from overseas follow these examples:

  • To call the Australian landline number: 03 9XXX XXXX you'd dial: + 61 3 9XXX XXXX from an overseas destination
  • To call/SMS to mobile number: 0421 0XX XXX you'd dial: + 61 421 0XX XXX from an overseas destination

Note. ' + ' is the international exit code for the overseas destination you're in (i.e. they're equivalent of Australia's '0011')

Australia's country code is 61, our international exit code is 0011.

To quickly find a country code, go to this page and then type in the name of the overseas destination you're looking for and hit 'Enter'. Your browser should take you straight to that overseas destination and its code.
