Manage mobile phone number display settings (Caller ID)

In this article, we'll show you how to turn your Caller ID settings on and off.

This includes:

  • See who's calling: Making the phone number of incoming calls visible
  • Show / hide your number: Showing your phone number to others when making phone calls

If you want to activate these features on your home phone, click here.

Dial 1300 554 536 from your mobile to check if your number is being displayed to others (normal calling charges apply).

To change this setting on your device:

  1. Visit our Device guides
  2. Select your device
  3. Select Calls and contacts

You can also show or hide your number each time you make a call:

    • To show your number: Dial 1832 or *32 before the phone number you want to call
    • To hide your number: Dial 1831 or #31# before the phone number you want to call

    Important information

Regardless of your call settings or line listing (silent / non-silent) status, your phone number will always be available to Emergency Services and other telecommunications providers on a per call basis.

This feature allows you to see the caller's full national phone or mobile number and is enabled by default.

You won't see the caller's phone number if the call originates from:

    • Overseas (unless the country uses the same ID technology)
    • A payphone
    • A blocked or silent number
    • Some 'un-serviced' areas in Australia

If the call originates from one of the above, your handset will display either:

    • Unavailable: These are generally calls coming from unserviced areas within Australia or from overseas
    • Private: These are generally calls that have been blocked by the caller or originate from an unlisted (silent) number

To change this feature, message us.

You can activate the same settings on your home phone. Find out how to show / hide your number, or see who's calling, here.
