Manage home phone number display settings

In this article, we'll explain the different home phone number display settings.

This includes:

  • Show who's calling: Making the phone number of incoming calls visible
  • Show / hide your number: Showing your phone number to others when making phone calls

If you want to activate these features on your mobile phone, click here.

This feature allows you to see the caller's full national phone or mobile number.

Note. There may be costs involved so check your plan's Critical Information Summary (CIS).

You won't see the caller's phone number if the call originates from:

  • Overseas (unless the country uses the same caller ID technology)
  • A payphone
  • A blocked or silent number
  • Some 'un-serviced' areas in Australia

If the call originates from one of the above, your handset will display either:

  • Unavailable: These are generally calls coming from unserviced areas within Australia or from overseas
  • Private: These are generally calls that have been blocked by the caller or originate from an unlisted (silent) number

To change this feature, message us.

Dial 1300 554 536 from your home phone to check if your number is being displayed to others (normal calling charges apply).

You can also show or hide your number each time you make a call:

  • To show your number: Dial 1832 or *32 before the phone number you want to call
  • To hide your number: Dial 1831 or *31 before the phone number you want to call

To change how your number is displayed by default, contact us.

Important information

Regardless of your call settings or line listing (silent / non-silent) status, your phone number will always be available to Emergency Services and other telecommunications providers on a per call basis.

You can activate the same settings on your mobile. Find out how to show / hide your number, or see who's calling, here.
