Set up or cancel Prepaid AutoRecharge

AutoRecharge is the simple solution for automatically recharging your Prepaid plan on a regular cycle (on the day of expiry), or when you run low on data (depending on your plan). AutoRecharge is available on selected Prepaid plans.

If you activate your Prepaid service on Optus Flex Plus and you turn on AutoRecharge, you'll be automatically opted in to AutoRecharge upon plan expiry, or when you reach a low balance (whichever comes first). Set and forget with AutoRecharge.

  • You can set up AutoRecharge via My Optus app or online when you activate your SIM (available for Flex Plus only)

If AutoRecharge isn't set up at the time of activation, you can set it up at any time via My Optus app

You can also turn on AutoRecharge by texting the word MENU to 9999 and following the prompts. If you don't have a saved card, you will be given the option to add one via a secure one-time web link.

You can save your card on your next recharge via My Optus app or over the phone (call 555) from your Prepaid service

Calling the 555 Prepaid IVR without a saved card will also send you a one-time web link (simply select the Pay By Card option).
  • Low Balance AutoRecharge will trigger an AutoRecharge when your data or credit allowance reaches a low balance before your plan expiry. This will restart a new plan period (e.g. a new 28-day cycle) from the date of the AutoRecharge.

If you're on Optus Flex Plus or select legacy plans, this option will be turned on by default when you turn on AutoRecharge.

  • On Optus Flex Plus, you can only  AutoRecharge on expiry or when your data reaches a low balance (whichever comes first). It will not be possible to AutoRecharge upon expiry only.

For all selected plans where AutoRecharge is available, you must have AutoRecharge turned on to use Low Balance AutoRecharge.
  • You can cancel AutoRecharge at any time before your next scheduled AutoRecharge payment is taken. For AutoRecharge on expiry, payment will be deducted any time from 5.30am (Sydney time) on the day of your current recharge expiry and the recharge will be applied between 11.00pm and 11.30pm (Sydney time). For AutoRecharge on low balance, payment is taken and the recharge is applied when the low balance trigger is reached.

  • If you don’t cancel before your next payment is taken, your next scheduled AutoRecharge will be processed as originally planned, you won’t be entitled to a refund, and the cancellation will only take effect from your next recharge. Once your current recharge expires, or if you reach a low balance after cancellation, you'll no longer be automatically charged.

  • Cancelling AutoRecharge also means you'll no longer be able to use data, make calls or send texts when your current recharge expires, unless you recharge manually.

  • For steps to cancel AutoRecharge, see AutoRecharge support → Manage Your AutoRecharge.
