Usage Alerts for Optus Choice Direct Debit plans

This article is for customers who signed up to a $45 or $55 Optus Choice Direct Debit plan on or after the 31st of May 2021.

In this article we'll discuss how to keep track of your usage and what happens when you use all your included data, international talk & text or Optus Roaming Pass allowances.

If unsure, please check your Critical Information Summary for more info.

Usage alerts are sent when you reach 50%, 85% and 100% of your data inclusions. The usage alerts are sent via SMS or email. You can also check your data usage in My Optus app or My Account.

If you go over your shared data limit, all eligible services on your account will continue to use data at maximum speeds of up to 1.5Mbps with no excess data charges in Australia. You can find more info about Endless Data here.

You can return to full data speeds by adding a Data Boost via our Once off Data Add-ons or Unlimited Data Day.

Automatic $10 for 1GB is not available on these plans.

Note: Keep in mind, usage alerts are not real-time and there may be delays of 4 to 48 hours. It's recommended you do not rely solely on them.

If you're on the $55 plan, you have standard unlimited international talk and text to 35 selected destinations from Australia. Talk and text to other destinations outside of Australia are not included and these calls and texts cannot be connected. See here for list of 35 selected destinations

If you're on the $45 plan, international talk & test to destinations outside of Australia are not included and these calls and texts cannot be connected.

When roaming, you're automatically opted in to Optus Roaming Pass (available in eligible destinations only). Optus Roaming Pass is active for 24-hours or until 1GB data is used, whichever comes first.

Once you've used 1GB of data or 24-hours has lapsed, you can continue to roam in eligible destinations, and we'll automatically charge you $10 for another pass and the 24-hour timer restarts. Unused data expires. See here for full terms and eligible destinations.
