Number Share: What you need to know
Number Share lets you share one mobile phone number on the Optus network between your compatible smart watch, i.e. an Apple, Samsung or Google and your mobile phone.
This means that you can make / receive calls, texts and use data on your smart watch even if you don't take your mobile phone out with you.
Key details
- Number Share is $5 per month, and can be purchased with an Optus Watch plan
- Your smart watch and phone must be compatible with Number Share (check Which devices are compatible?)
- The smart watch must have an embedded SIM, known as an eSIM
- Voice over LTE (VoLTE) functionality must be switched on your watch and mobile device. Learn how to get VoLTE here
- Number Share needs to be deactivated when certain service changes are made (see When must I deactivate Number Share?)
Connecting with Number Share
Activating Number Share allows you to connect your smart watch and Mobile device. This means you can leave your phone behind and still make and receive calls or text messages and use your data.
Pairing your smart watch and Mobile device
If you don't activate Number Share, you can still pair your watch and Mobile device. When your watch and Mobile device are within Bluetooth range and you have Bluetooth switched on (e.g. both devices are within the same house or you have both devices with you), Bluetooth pairing allows you to make and receive calls or text messages and use your data with your smart watch in close range to your phone.
If you leave the house and do not bring your Mobile device, the Bluetooth pairing will disconnect, and a number of features will be unavailable.
You must pair your phone and smart watch following the manufacturer's instructions in order for Bluetooth pairing to work.
See Activate Number Share below.
Important: You'll need your My Account login handy before activating Number Share. For help, see Forgotten My Account & My Optus app login or password.
