Late payment and other billing fees

In this article, you'll find descriptions of fees that may be charged to your Optus account.

Important: Customers who have an Automatic Payment plan won't receive a bill and must select automatic payments as their payment option. Click here to see more. To check what plan you're on, visit My Optus app or My Account. Otherwise, head to our article for more info

A late payment fee is charged to your Optus account when the bill has not been paid by the due date.

The late payment fee is $15.

Avoid being charged a Late Payment fee by paying your bill by the due date. Need to pay your bill? Find out how to pay here.

Note: Any payments made via credit, debit or charge cards incur a 0.341% payment processing fee. The fee will appear on your next bill.

You can avoid the credit card payment fee by
setting up automatic payments (previously direct debit).

Home phone and broadband accounts not paid using automatic payments (previously direct debit) can incur a $2.20 processing fee. To avoid this fee, set up automatic payments now.

Mobile only accounts will not be charged a non-direct debit fee.

Note: Paying a bill using stored card details in My Account is classified as a manual payment and does not avoid the direct debit fee.

Remember: There's a delay between the date your bill is generated and the date you receive your bill. If you set up automatic payments after your bill is generated, you'll still be charged a non-direct debit fee for this bill.

There's a $2.20 paper bill fee if you decided to receive your bill by mail.

To avoid this fee, set up your bill notifications via email or text today.

Click here if you need help understanding your bill.

Note: There's a $3.72 (incl. GST) fee for payments made at Australia Post.

For further information on making a payment in-person at Australia Post, see How to pay your bill.
